A 3D oral scan is a fast, comfortable way to record the exact shape of your teeth, gums and bite in three dimensions, without the putty trays used for traditional impressions. A small handheld scanner is passed over the teeth and builds an accurate digital model on screen in real time.
What is a 3D Oral Scan?
It is a digital impression. Instead of biting into impression material, your teeth are captured with a scanner as a precise 3D model. That model becomes part of your record and feeds directly into planning your treatment, and into making appliances such as clear aligners and retainers. Because it is a surface scan, it uses no x-rays.
